How Coaching Works?

What is the difference between business coaching and business consulting?

Coaching grows a person from the inside out. Coaching helps you set goals that match your highest potential, create a realistic plan to achieve those goals, discover then eliminate, how to sabotage your own business and finally holds you responsible for achieving those goals within a specific period. Coaching teaches you how to find the answers within yourself. While your coach may offer you insight and advice, the primary purpose of coaching is to unshackle you so you can truly learn how to create the business of your dreams.

Consulting brings the consultant’s expertise to the mix. The consultant offers information, technical advice or opinions. They are relied on to understand the problem, present solutions, and training.

Here’s an example of how a business coach and business consultant differ:

Suppose you are putting together next months plans. A business consultant may say, “Here are some of the tasks you need to implement for the next month to achieve your monthly goals,” offering advice based on experience. A business coach would encourage you to set your priorities by stating, “What tasks should you complete next month to achieve your monthly goals?”

When you hire a consultant, you want that person to figure out the problem and provide the answers for fixing the problem. When you hire a coach, you want that person to teach you how to fix the problem. Coaching and consulting are very different and sometimes you need both.

The actual difference depends on the coach or the consultant. Both professions are about as varied as the individuals, and sometimes you find one person or a team that works both as a coach and as a consultant which will give you the best of both worlds.

How do I know if I need business coaching, business consulting, or both?

You will need a business consultant if you want:

  • To understand the basics of business planning and marketing
  • To learn business and marketing skills
  • To find ways to keep track of and follow up on your business success
  • To uncover and solve problem areas you either can’t see or don’t have time to find

You will need a business coach if you want help:

  • To prioritize goals and tasks
  • To be more responsible for following through tasks
  • To organize your thoughts
  • To understand how you have been sabotaging your efforts (and how to eliminate those traits)
  • To create a practical and effective program
  • To maintain high motivation and impact even in the face of difficulties

Is this another name for consulting?

Absolutely not. Again the two are very different professions and while a business coach certainly does some consulting work, a consultant does not coach.

A pure consultant is actually an expert dealing with a particular area of business. For example, a consultant may be able to tell you how to eliminate waste in the production process. Typically, a consultant is there to fix a specific project / problem, and details the findings in a report.

The coach does not concentrate on one area, does not necessarily prepare official reports, will not just concentrate on the business, and not leave once a particular project is completed. A coach is there for you – 24 hours a day – to help you, guide you, motivate you, improve you and improve your entire business.

What are your business coaching areas of expertise?

My business coaching expertise three main areas: Performance Improvement, Finance, and Public Relations. Together, in those 3 key areas we work on leadership development, resilience building, communication skills, conflict resolution, executive presence and career transition. I also work with managers to help them identify and connect with their strengths, to gain greater clarity of purpose and goals and increase their self-awareness and understanding in order to deliver success at work.

How do you assess and measure the success of business coaching programs?

My business coaching programs are highly customized and include several steps to ensure that it meets your business objectives:

Goals – Generate clearly defined goals in advance. There are several different success steps that can be applied, depending on the business objective:

  • Learning – level of core competency that is expected to be obtained as a direct result of the program
  • Behavior change – Has the behavior and mindset changed according to business goals as a result of the program
  • Business results – impact on the business results that can be quantified or evaluated as a result of the training program.

Actions – The program is aligned with the overall goal to ensure that the actions taken course of the program have a direct affect the business goal.

Evaluation – At the end of the business coaching program, the effect is quantified against the original measure of success.

How do business coaching programs work?

My business coaching programs are designed as a partnership between the business, the coachee and the coach (me.) All programs are structured as follows:

  • Set the Goals: I work with you to set goals that meet the business objectives and needs of the individual
  • Create the Strategy: Design the proposed coaching program, timeline and schedule and ensure its agreeable to stakeholders
  • Take Action: Implementation will take place through the business coaching program. Together we will monitor the results, identify opportunities for improvement, and make necessary implementation changes. This stage also includes regular audit meetings to review and obtain feedback on progress.
  • Assess: The results are evaluated against the established goals and further development opportunities are also identified.
  • Maintain: Programs are introduced to ensure new behaviors and mindsets become embedded.

What coaching results have other business owners seen?

There are three main reasons why business coaching will work for you and your business. First, I will help you get 100% focused on your goals and step-by-step processes to get you there. What business coaching is not?

  • Therapy: business coaching is not a therapy, because the therapy should help people to recover from emotional or mental disorders such as depression or anxiety. Coaching, on the other hand, focuses on the present and the future, focusing on optimizing the opportunities in your life to ultimately achieve greater happiness.
  • Consulting: Consultants are hired based on their expertise. They are expected to diagnose problems, then prescribe and sometimes implement solutions. Coaching, however, assumes that you can develop your own solutions … the coach is only there to guide, assist, and help you to develop your own plan and your own actions to take.
  • Mentoring: A mentor is an expert who teaches wisdom based on his own experiences. Mentoring can include advice, counseling, and coaching, but the coaching process is not about advice or advice. Instead, coaching is more specific to help you set and achieve your own goals.
  • Training: Training requires a linear, one-way learning path that complies with a set curriculum. Coaching, on the other hand, is non-linear; it is a two-way partnership and does not start with a given curriculum.

What type of person hires a business coach?

What is a financial coach?

A financial coach is a kind of life coach who helps clients and encourages them to achieve their financial goals.

What is the difference between a financial advisor and financial coach?

In short, financial advisors want to manage the wealth you have already built up. Financial coaches help you build wealth first. One teaches you to fish; one cooks the fish you provided.

The only thing financial advice and financial coaching have in common is the word finance. They are as different as black and white.

Financial advice focuses on your portfolio by offering specific investment advice. The financial advisor’s business model is managing the funds you already have accumulated. They have control of your assets, and they do the work for you.

Financial coaching is different. It focuses on your education, your growth, and your decision-making process so that you can master your wealth-building skills. The coaching business model is primarily about helping you build wealth.

What does research say about coaching?

Studies have been revealed in comparing “training” to “coaching combined with training” alone. The study showed that training alone increased productivity by 22.4%, while training and weekly coaching increased productivity by 88%. Here is the reason: Synergy between coach and customer creates momentum and enthusiasm. Better goals are set, and the customer develops new skills that lead to greater success. Business coaching provides a structure of support, and your Coach is an objective, positive supporter.

How much coaching will I need, and for how long?

The duration of a coaching partnership depends on the needs and preferences of the client, including the type of goals planned, the speed with which the client takes action, the frequency of coaching meetings, etc., and the financial resources available to support coaching , For some people, this can take up to 6 sessions; for most others it will be 12 months. What is important, however, is that the customer always has control over the termination of the process whenever they wish.

Can I achieve my goals on my own without a business coach?

You can certainly achieve many goals on your own, but with a business coach, you will be able to do bigger things, set bolder goals, and get results faster. Commitment, accountability, and follow-through are some of the most valuable components of the coaching process, and they are why people who work with a business coach make much more progress than working alone. Your business coach also gives you access to a set of tools, techniques, and processes that are proven to work, and you benefit from being exposed to a different perspective that challenges your approach and provides you with new ideas. Athletes and CEOs know that they can not make it to the top by themselves. They understand the value of a trained professional who helps them identify the best direction and provides them unbiased support and unparalleled feedback. There aren’t any athletes going to the Olympics without a coach, no football players going to the Super Bowl without a coach, shouldn’t you get the same advantage?

Do startup business entrepreneurs or career changers always know exactly what kind of business they want to start or career the want before they come to you?

Not necessarily, business coaching clients tend to fall into three categories:

  • The first type of client has some ideas for business, but is not yet sure which one (or what combination) will work best or if there is something they have not thought yet that might be a better fit.
  • The second type of client is just starting out, but knows exactly what business they want to be.
  • The third type of coaching client is one who already has a business, has had several successes in the past as well, and wants to grow or expand the new areas.

What are the Different Types of Coaches?

In the industry of professional coaching, there are two types of Coaches:

    • Personal Coaches should have designated Personal Coaching Certifications
    • Business Coaches should have designated Business Coaching Certifications

Under each type of Coach are different coaching niches. Regardless of their area of expertise, all coaches share key characteristics such as leadership, knowledge, attention to detail, and the desire to make others succeed.

My main training programs are sales training and leadership training. Each are customized to meet your personal business needs. Whether it’s a single program, or for an entire management team, I can tailor a plan that will satisfy your business goals. The process I undertake may include:

  • Needs analysis – how do the needs of the individual or team align with the business
  • Scope of the program – define and agree a leadership program (including success indicators) with business sponsorship
  • Delivery program – training and workshops delivered to participants
  • Follow-up training – a personal coaching session with participants to ensure the transfer of learning to the work environment

Besides leadership training and sales training, I can develop and provide training programs on the following subjects:

  • branding strategy
  • marketing strategy
  • public relations

In addition, I can support your business to embed learning following any training programs that you implement. Through a short training program that immediately after training, I am able to transfer learning from the workshop to the work environment. This is a step often missed by training providers, but is the most effective and effective way to provide a return on investment for your training dollars.

Why would you ever fire a client?

A client can be fired in a limited number of cases but very specific reasons. Never without a discussion in advance and the opportunity to fix the problems. Reasons include:
